Shri.Pankaj Kapadia, a well-known businessman, sports person and philanthropist of our city-Surat was born to Hasmukh Kapadia and Madhuben Kapadia on 2th July 1941 in Dania street, Surat.His siblings are Surekhaben,Parbadbhai,Rohitbhai,Ashokbhai and Shailesh Bhai.
Someone has rightly said,”We make a living by what we get, We make a life by what we give”.
The above lines define the life, Shri Pankaj Kapadia is living.
He is a person who is talented, virtuous, kind and dutiful and has noble personality. He is always ready to help others. Sports, education and service to mankind are motto of his life.
He is a successful businessman of Surat but amazingly, what goes unmentioned is the breadth of charitable work that promotes the lives of many in Surat.
He considers himself more of shaper more than funder. It is all about donating his time, belongings or even sharing kind words or advice in an effort to better others. His life represents a direct effort in aiding others without expecting something in return.
He is the trustee of famous Amroli college in south Gujarat which is run by Jivan jyot trust.
Sarvajanik college of performing arts is now better known as Shri Pankanj Kapadia sarvajanik college of performing arts because of his contribution in field of art and culture.
He is a gifted cricket player. He has won many accolades in the field of sports. There won’t be any ground in south Gujarat where he didn’t play the cricket matches. The ground of Jeevan Bharti school where he studied has also been named as Pankaj Kapadia sports ground.
He is a sportsperson as well as a sports enthusiast. He has been the president of Gujarat gymnastics association since 1987.He is the one who took the Gujarat gymnastics association to its pinnacle. He not only provides the financial help to the association but also encourages the sportspersons to give their best. In2006, 3G Asian gymnastics championship AGU organized the worldwide championship and India got the chance to host the same. It was proud moment for city. Surat to arrange such a huge international event. Many Olympic winners from countries like Japan, china, Philippines, Kazakhstan were supposed to come for the championship. When the matter was discussed with him, he immediately landed his help by opening the doors of Kapadia health club for organizing meetings regarding the competition. He also provided all rooms, dormitory and hall free of cost for participants. He also provided the encouragement to all the participants. Without his efforts, this event could have not been such a grand successful event. Under his supervision, Gujarat gymnastic association was able to organize national and international championships, coaching courses, judges’ clinic and pre-national camps with foreign expert coaches. He donates 50000rs. every year on his birthday to state Gymnastics association for their development.
He has been the president of Gujarat gymnastics association since 1987.
